Super Sexy Sugar Cleanse: Brief Hiatus
8 March 2010
First, an update on my week of raw food. I managed to last six-and-a-half days before succumbing to some leftover pasta in the fridge and completely abandoning all thoughts of raw anything. While I didn’t make it the entire week, I was very proud of myself for a) lasting as long as I did and b) managing not to strangle anyone while struggling with caffeine withdrawal. And did that first cup of coffee on Monday morning ever taste good!
Going forward, I’m hoping to keep up a more-raw-than-not sort of eating pattern; I really felt energized by all the fruit and vegetables I ate (and I developed a real appreciation for trail mix which both Adam and Leah shared). I will need to figure out how to best incorporate more raw food into my diet (I like the idea of “raw till dinner” so that I can focus on smoothies and salads for breakfast and lunch but still participate in eating the normally-cooked family dinner).
As for the sugar cleanse, I am currently allowing myself a short hiatus while I’m on a family vacation of sorts and am very thankful to welcome vanilla soy lattes back into my life, at least briefly. I plan to be back at the cleanse later this week, though, with a renewed energy to get through the rest of the month.

you did fantastic, especially with coffee being on the no no list.
I’ve been off caffeine for the most part, for a long time now, and I don’t like it anymore. I get my lattes when we see each other with decaf, but there’s still enough caffeine in there to make me feel awful on the way home in the car.
But sugar? I don’t know. Can I go a whole week without eating anything with sugar in it? One day I’ll have to see. Not today!
Great job! Gotta do what’s right for you!
